A SENSE OF PROPORTION AND A SENSE OF HUMOUR

"I am certain that in our endeavours to train youth for this great business that lies ahead the foundations must be the Christian concept. Then I think we have to develop in our youth a sturdy self-reliance. Give them that alertness of mind, imagination, vision and foresight that gives men the power of decision. think a further quality required is the quality of patience. That quality, I would say, is a natural ally of two further endowments for a well-founded character. They are a sense of proportion and a sense of humour, both of which you Scottish folk have in full measure."
