KINELLAN ROAD From the house of Dr. Cumming at one time tutor in the family of the Duke of Argyll, and named by him from a place in Argyllshire.
KING STREET p.w. 1780/81, 105. Yard yeads to Shirra Brae, D.1827. Probably from George III, m.t.c. 18/1/1792. The street now called Kings Street, at head of Sheriff Brae. At bottom of road from Bonnington to Leith, facing intended new harbour, e.e.c. 11/10/1792.
KINGHORN PLACE From Hugh Kinghorn, m.t.c. 25/7/1832, of H. & W. Kinghorn, builders, Leith, D. 1800, jr. D.1827, who inhabited Bonnington Villa.
KINGSBURGH ROAD After Rt. Hon. Sir John Hay Athole Macdonald, Lord Kingsburgh, Lord justice Clerk of Scotland, born 1836. Early enthusiast for motor cars; the name was on the feuing plan when the ground was acquired by the Murrayfield Real Estate Co. from the late Mr. Lockhart Thomson.

KING STABLES ROAD From the Royal Mews there, in ancient days below, and not far from the Castle. (King's Stables, at West Port, D.1800, 234). "King's Stables, back of Castle", D. 1827. King's Stables, m.t.c. 27/3/1728, 1/8/1792. Queen's Stables, lying under the Castle, all, at the West Port, between the common highways on the south, cast and north, and the place of tourney, otherwise called the "barres", on the west, c.c.1320, 29/6/1543. In charter of 3 Oct, 1477 James III forbids the sale of ''qwyck Bestis, Ky. Oxon in the Town, hot under the wall, fer (for) West at our Stable", m.t.c. 2. King's Stables, m.t.c. 8/10/1697. Superiority of King's Stables to be purchased from James Boirlands, m.t.c. 2/13/1655. Jas. Kyll, couper in Potterrow, infest in piece of land on King's Stables, disponed by Wm. Thomson, m.t.c. 23/12/1670.

Old name Simpson's Cl., Ainslie, 1780,1804. Kirkwood. A ruinous tenement in Cowgate, called Kitchen's Land, m.t.c. 8/11/1820. For John Caitchen, carver son of late John Kaitchen, portioner in Peebles, by Margaret Hunter, daughter of John Hunter, portioner, Abbeyhill: tenement of land south side of Cowgate, opposite Fishmarket Cl. near the New Well, 3 Reg. 27/7/1768.
